Republicans move to control Keystone approval

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Congressional Republicans, who are urging President Barack Obama to give a permit to the Canada-to-Texas Keystone XL oil pipeline project, are working on a plan to take the reins of approval from the president should the White House say no.

Debris from wrecked cargo ship washes onto New Zealand beaches

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Shipping containers, sacks of milk powder and other debris washed onto popular New Zealand beaches on Monday after a cargo ship stuck on an offshore reef for three months started breaking apart in heavy seas at the weekend.

Israel cabinet approves ICL’s Dead Sea salt extraction

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel's cabinet on Sunday overwhelmingly approved a Finance Ministry plan in which Israel Chemicals (ICL) will pay 3.04 billion shekels ($ 796 million) to extract salt buildup on the Dead Sea floor and to double the royalties it pays on minerals extracted from the area.
